On Anxiety

This morning we woke up late and I wasn’t able to get the most anxious part of my day over.

So here I am, having to live with it until this evening when I can run.

(I don’t like running).

Then it hit me, there are some people who are unable to get rid of their anxiety. For some there isn’t a moment to accomplish or complete, rather, every day and every moment, they have to live with it: that feeling.

It’s annoying, overwhelming at times, and can even take your breath away….the longing and constant wondering as to if the worst will happen.

For those of you in it, is it like torture or a horrible nightmare? Is worry evil at its core, keeping you in a place where the sun rarely shines?

Here’s where fasting enters. Often fasting gives us insight into experiences that aren’t our norm. Sometimes fasting even aligns us with the people who don’t have daily what we’re temporarily abstaining from. Fasting reminds us that there is more to life than what we’re experiencing.

I have to wait to get a part of my day over that I like to knock out first, but today I’m remembering those who can’t knock it out and I’m also remembering the people waiting.

Let’s pray for their comfort today. Maybe knowing that they are on our minds will make the journey a bit less uncomfortable.
