Rev. Cameron Robinson

Rev. Cameron Robinson is an ordained Presbyter in the Diocese of the Southeast, Reformed Episcopal Church, Founding members of the Anglican Church of North America.

Hey! I’m Rev. Cameron Robinson, husband to Joy Robinson, and father to Koryn and Arie. We have lived in Spartanburg since 2015, and have served a variety of parishes. (Joy is from Roebuck!) Throughout all of those opportunities to serve, we fell in love with the liturgy of worship, the rhythms of the church calendar (Fat Tuesday is one of our favorites,) and even the family traditions of an Advent wreath. Yet, what we consistently felt was missing, was our culture of African American Worship.

I believe fully that the church is global and pretty much like someone’s dinner table: quite often you invite those whom you speak the same language with, and want to live life with, or those God just places in your life. We are looking to create a church where the ancient rhythms of worship exists within a body of people drawn to African-American worship. (Here’s a blog post about it!)

For the past five years, I worked in the Education sector as a middle school teacher. Joy continues to work as a school nurse. It’s our commitment to the education sector that shapes our desire for Emmanuel to be a place where questions can be asked of the faith, and relationship restored with God. How that relationship ended doesn’t matter so much to us. We simply want you to have a safe space to begin again.

I believe wholeheartedly that God is with us and has never left us. I invite you to begin again with Emmanuel Anglican in Spartanburg!

I am a retired educator and my career in education spanned over thirty years. I began my career as a second grade teacher and went on to teach many first and third grade students. I ended my tenure as an assistant principal at an elementary school.

I’m grateful that my career allowed me to meet and interact with people from all walks of life. I couldn’t have asked for a more rewarding career because when I didn’t have a clear direction for my life, God did.

My personal journey educating myself started at Lander University where I received a Bachelor of Science degree, in elementary education. After teaching for a while, I went back to obtain my Master’s Degree in elementary education from Converse College. Although I thought I would always teach, I began to look for other ways to impact students beyond the classroom. This inspired me to obtain a degree in Leadership and Supervision from Converse College. I believe that whether we are in college or not, we should all strive to be life-long learners because the world is filled with amazing new things to learn.

I came from humble beginnings. I was born and reared in Spartanburg County in the town of Roebuck. At heart, I am a country girl who loves wide open spaces and being able to see wildlife in their natural environment. While I am enamored with the peace and quiet of the country, I also enjoy traveling as much as possible. Learning about other cultures fascinates me. I believe what we learn from different culture helps us to grow and understand we are all essentially reflections of each other, and ultimately reflections of Christ.

Hi everyone! I am Angelleat Vickers. I grew up on the lovely Caribbean Island of Jamaica. Most people know Jamaica as the place where Bob Markey hails from, or a vacation paradise but Jamaica is also a country embedded with firm Christian values.

Hi everyone! I am Angelleat Vickers. I grew up on the lovely Caribbean Island of Jamaica. Most people know Jamaica as the place where Bob Markey hails from, or a vacation paradise but Jamaica is also a country embedded with firm Christian values. It has more churches per square mile than any other country. Christianity has been a part of my upbringing, even before we were old enough to make the decision for ourselves. Devotions are held in schools, prayers are welcomed in the workplace and almost everyone knows a Bible verse or proverb, ( a lot of times it's used out of context). This christian culture there has helped shape my life.

Being here in another country has allowed me to see Christianity through another lens. A lens where culture/(s) also plays a big role in how Christianity is displayed and perceived. What I love though, is the emphasis on loving God and loving people, and how both when understood in its proper context can look like Matthew 28:19. I love that discipleship and evangelism takes center stage here, and I am excited to be a part of this movement.

I completed my Bachelors Degree in Business Administration at Northern Caribbean University, in Jamaica. I am a wife, a mom of two energetic kids (boy and girl), and most of all a follower of Jesus Christ. If one should ask me, why do you serve the church? It boils down to one thing, for the love of God; because he loved me first, and chose me when I thought less of myself. God is intentional about the church, he is intentional about me, he is intentional about all His people

The advancement of the Kingdom of God is important to me, and this does not mean that I will be in the position of a clergy, but as a believer the opportunities to serve are endless. God has given me the ability to be a multi-faceted individual who strives in serving others, as simple as this may sound, serving others may not be a natural proponent for all people. So I am humbled at every opportunity to put hands, hearts and feet together for a purpose bigger than myself.

At Emmanuel, we recognize our tithe as the beginning of generosity. Grow with us! When we really think about it, God’s request for simply 10% of what we earn is quite generous, as we believe it is all God’s anyway
