What to expect:
Sunday is our principal day for worship. We invite you to the lighthearted nature of development unique to a church plant. As you join, expect a community developing deep roots, a communal voice of worship, vulnerability before the cross, and the tender hope of unity with our neighbor.
What Happens On Sunday?
Worship will begin at 9:30am. We will sing, pray, hear the Word of God, partake in the Eucharist (communion) and dismiss with the commission to spread the truth of God known through Jesus Christ.
Where Should I Go?
Sunday morning will be at Holy Communion Lutheran Church in Spartanburg (1430 John B White Sr. Blvd, Spartanburg, SC 29306). Our sanctuary is a wonderful space that was the original worship space of Holy Communion. As you enter the campus, you will want to park by the playground in the marked parking spots. The overflow parking will be in the bank’s parking lot to the right of the church, facing John B. White Sr. (You can walk through the natural fence). As you enter the campus, you will see a red door with a sign that says “Emmanuel.” Come on in!
What Do I Wear?
That’s completely up to you! Rev. Cameron will likely have on a robe and stole of some kind. Kids will be comfortable and we encourage the folks gathered to wear what they choose!
How Will You Minister To My Children?
The vibrant heart of our community is our children. While childcare is optional, we are creating an experience that we hope your children will want to attend. Children join us for the beginning of the worship service. The 0-2 classroom opens first at 9:15. (Your children are more than welcome to stay with you for the duration of the service!) After the worship songs in the beginning, the 3-6 & 7-11 class will be dismissed to their classrooms to receive an age appropriate lesson, taught by our teachers.
Our classes are split into three age groups. After the sermon and prayers of the people, roughly around 10:45, the older children will be walked back to the sanctuary. At that time, 0-2 parents are invited to pick up their children and we will all prepare for communion together. Our expectation is that your children act just like children, with spontaneous joy that keeps us all young, loose, and fun!
