This is a wonderful question that people don’t think about until they ask about a new church. Here is some information that will help you get a gist of our culture.
We’re a quirky, Star Wars (Trek), J.Cole is Hip Hop, Bubble Guppies, “For the culture” type group of people who are drawn to those who ooze with kindness. The Android v Apple debate is real, and we have GIFs on deck to prove it.
We like Hip Hop, Theology, and Wings. Yes, they go together.
We’re a “It’s Christmas in July/ Pumpkin Spice season late August” meets Space Jam, but some of us are Lebron haters so we disagree as to which version is best.
We uplift minority voices because these voices aren’t an afterthought in this space. They are our voices. We do this while navigating our wonderfully diverse definition of family in our own homes.
..and we’re trying to become just that, a family.
We are a group who asks questions and don’t demean your stage of belief because we realize it is through those questions that we’ve fallen in love with God as revealed through His Son Jesus.
We’re compassionately curious.
We bring our fears and our pain to God, and we pursue Him.
We’re a “no pressure,” type of church that invites you to leave the “churchy language” at home, unless that’s just what’s dwelling up in you. We don’t want anyone to perform or feel the pressure to say the right thing. Just be you and be where you are.
For far too long that performing has inhibited real relationship with God for those who don’t know the language. We’re trying to change that here, We only ask that you seek him.
We are a people who either work in the field of healing, (education, medicine, mental health, ministry) or we’re drawn to the work of improving life through the Gospel.
We embrace our African American Heritage because “the south got something to say” and we make room for like minded people to come along, building a tapestry that reflects the truth that God overlooks none, especially minority communities.
Oh and expect texts that are not responded to during Harry Potter marathons.
We hope this paints a small image of lighthearted Christians just trying to figure it out.
We invite you to come and see.
